The Poem<\/strong><\/p>\n

Often, when I read through Sue\u2019s poems I wish she were around to tell the story behind the poem. The story I imagined was quite funny and I can almost hear Sue laughing. It was probably about a gathering of First Nations people because she used the word moccasin. I\u2019ll bet there was a real character Sue observed somewhere that inspired Sex Games at Moccasin Square Gardens<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Picture<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the past few posts I\u2019ve been experimenting with acrylic paint, but this time I went back to my comfort zone with ink and watercolours. This poem made me think of an old drawing from art school. In the new version the people are portrayed as young and innocent, but someone is contemplating ideas that are not innocent at all. The graphic pattern is derived from Blackfoot teepee designs and of course, the couple is wearing moccasins.<\/p>\n

Sex Games at Moccasin Square Gardens<\/strong><\/p>\n

He slips down close to the knee<\/p>\n

treads lightly up,<\/p>\n

up<\/p>\n

waiting for a successful landing<\/p>\n

apprehension, frustration,<\/p>\n

eagerness<\/p>\n

try it once,<\/p>\n

go on<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Slapped silly like a<\/p>\n

fuller brush man calling at 5:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

no sale.<\/p>\n

No score.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Shakey,<\/p>\n

but persistent<\/p>\n

maybe successful if<\/p>\n

persistent<\/p>\n

sometimes persistence pays off<\/p>\n

feelin\u2019 lucky<\/p>\n

Lucky is good.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ever so,<\/p>\n

gently, quietly,<\/p>\n

steady, steady,<\/p>\n

up, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 up<\/p>\n

determined to<\/p>\n

try it again<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Just gotta<\/p>\n

do this one \u00a0\u00a0 thing<\/p>\n

then I can rest,<\/p>\n

Then I\u2019ll know<\/p>\n

closer,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 just about\u2026<\/p>\n
